I am in the process of shutting down this site as a blog and converting it into a “Center Of The Universe” aggregator for all the various projects I’m doing around the internet. I like to change things up about once a year just to explore new and interesting things, and this time around I’m going to stop doing things outside of zedshaw.com and open source. I’ll probably release open source here and there, since it’s in my blood, but it’ll be mostly thing related to music or the sites I create.
In the next few days this blog feed will change to be updates from the feeds on my various web sites. As I work on these sites (which you can see in the right sidebar) you’ll start getting updates and can go check them out. It’ll pretty much be the same kind of content as before. Essays, music, rants, and other fun stuff. The only difference is that they’ll be on topic specific sites where I’m creating the stuff with other people.
For example, I still do music, and produce one or two songs a week while writing essays about it. I just do it over at fretwar.com rather than here. My rants will be hosted on a new site where I’ll be inviting other people to post awesome rants too. My more serious essays about programming and being a programmer will be on yet another site.
A key theme I want to go with is the idea that, while I post content to these sites, I also challenge other people to contribute and post. In the case of Fret War that’s actual musical challenges. In the case of the rants and essays it’ll be an open publishing system with myself as the “editor”.
Finally I’ll be doing a few jokes and art projects here and there. The concept of Andt.hn is very interesting to me, assuming I can find the time to actually work on the damn thing.
Anyway, be prepared to have this feed stay right where it is, but suddenly get an influx of very different content. All the original essays and blog posts will stay right where they are, so don’t worry about them going away.
