Well, I’ll be at DefCon this year, and I always try to do something fun for the conferences I attend.

Well looks like my rant about the state of open source feed readers hit some sites, so I should put in a few clarifications so people understand what I was looking for more specifically. I’ll do it by answering several of the questions people sent me.

RubyFringe was my last Ruby conference and it was the best conference to go out on. Everything about RubyFringe was great. It was well organized, contained eclectic talks, and supported the weirdness that’s usually hidden at the other conferences.

I’ve been completely fed up with news/feed/rss/atom readers these days. I use Linux as my primary operating system, and I only have a few feeds that I want to rip through quick so I can get to reading the content. Yet, trying to find a reader that doesn’t suck donkey balls has been a chore.

CUSEC 2008 Rocked Hard!

I’ve been in Montreal since last Wed. attending the CUSEC 2008 conference as a keynote speaker. This is a conference for engineering students in Canada (and from around the world) where speakers from industry and academia come to warp the newbie’s minds.

Read my adventures with cool geeks, smoked meats, bagels, avoiding gravy with cheese curds, and protecting y’uns from soul sucking corporate coder jobs.

I’m also attending a ton more conferences so I’m going to create a new section where I write about my experiences speaking around the world. I have a few conferences in the backlog so I’ll be writing about them in reverse order. CUSEC 2008, then Rails2Italy, and Lone Star Rails Conference will get me caught up.

This post was a little delayed as I was doing some work on Utu getting ready for its return to business. It’s been down for a bit while I moved servers around and secured things up. Watch for the announce of the new site if you’re interested in playing.
